Character Development

Characters have feelings too!
Characters in books change over time. Typically a book character has life going a certain way and then something occurs that forces that character to change in some way. The character usually resists change and then over time changes or grows in some way by the end of the novel.

Think about the book you are reading and think about the main character. As you read, look at how these changes occur and what causes the character to change.

Write a short reflection about how the character in your novel acts and what changes you notice as you read. Are there things you relate to about your character? Are their things you don't understand about the main character? How does the character change over time? Respond to your secret blog buddy and I hope to see you all this week!

I am reading a book called Brisingr. Eragon, one of the main characters, hardly ever gets in duels when he is with his pet dragon Saphira. But when he isn't with her he hardly ever gets in duels

In my book it doesent have a charector. Yes there are rihnos of corse, but it doesent talk about a specific rihno. So I am going to talk about a book I stopped reading. Diary of a Wimpy kid. The main cherictor is Greg, Greg Heffly. He has a horrible life. Then once everything goes good or Greg gets something nice some how it gets lost, broken, or even his little brother looses it or chews even on it! Greg gets more responsible and more respectful. He comes a lot more prepared, sometimes.

I'm reading the book Loser. It is about A kids life. Sometimes he is happy and other times he is mad or sad. He gets mad when his sister loses badly in Monopoly, and she doesnt care. He gets happy when he earns a silver sticker star. Dancing Hobo

I love to hear all about characters in your books. Don't you love when the character in your book does something and you think, I have done that before, or I have felt that way before. What is even better, don't you get frustrated when you know a character in your book should not do something and they do it anyway. Sometimes when I read I just wish I coud be there with the character to give him a hand, or give him some advice! Great job above for commenting back to Michiganrokz! I love the conversation about reading!
